A combined Weed Watch and Lake Host Training class with Amy Smagula and Therese Thompson will be held Saturday, June 8th from 9-11:00am at the home of Peggy Tucker and Steve Soreff. Everyone is welcome to attend. Feel free to join us even if your not sure that you want to volunteer but, are interested in learning more about how exotic species of water weeds are threatening our lake. There will also be a demonstration of how to inspect a boat and trailer. You may come by land or by lake to this training. Please let us know if you are coming so we can have enough materials for each of you. Among the many concerns raised by Pawtuckaway Residents: Winter water levels would be at least two feet higher than in the past, which could damage docks and prevent shoreline cleanup. Summer water levels could be much lower than normal, making boating unsafe, impacting water quality, and harming loon nests. The plan is theoretical, relying on untested computer models to reallocate water for downstream fish habitat and water supply Downstream communities (especially Durham) have not implemented mandatory water conservation measures. You'll be taken to the info for our watershed, including three current conditions links. The Excel file titled Current Lamprey Insteam Flow Conditions takes awhile to load but it changes daily and provides a one-page status report, along with detailed data. The comments we submitted last year, as well as comments and more recent correspondence from the UDWS, are all under Task 11 (Comments to the Lamprey WMP).
