Also, we will be publishing kid's stories and articles about wildlife, conservation, and just plain fun on Pawtuckaway Lake.

Pawtuckaway Kids Paddle Day July 14th Print E-mail

Join the fun on the Pawtuckaway Kids Paddle Day - Saturday, July 14th  11am-1pm (raindate July 15th).  An entry fee of $3 is required. This event is open to all ages, adults included. We will meet at Neal's Cove canoe/kayak launch site (by land or by lake)! Parking is available in the dirt lot in the State Park if you come by car. We will paddle out beyond Rabbit Island and then back to the island for noon time lunch (bring your own lunch). We will ask participants to bring a trash bag for cleaning up the island and for bringing home their lunch trash. Participants can can paddle back to Neal's Cove whenever they want, participate as long your you'd like. George at the Mountain Road Trading Post has offered 5-6 canoes/kayaks at a reduced rental rate of $20 vs. the $35 normal fee.  He has also offered a guide from his shop to come with us and talk to the kids about paddling techniques. So, bring your kids, canoes and kayaks (or rent one at the Trading Post) and come down and join the fun! Pawtuckaway Kids Sandcastle Day was Big Fun! Print E-mail

The 2006 PLIA Pawtuckaway Kids Sandcastle Day was a bucket of fun! Twenty-three families turned out to build sandcastles and share a picnic lunch. Lauren Chaurette, head of the Pawtuckaway Kids program, did a great job organizing the event.  Thanks also go out to Janet Horvath and the Nottingham Recreation Department for helping to put on the event.

Elisabeth Danis is 8-years old and will be entering the third grade in Nottingham in the fall. She loves gymnastics, animals of all types, and best of all, swimming on Pawtuckaway. Elisabeth kicks off our new Pawtuckaway Kids section of the web site with a story about weasels.
