An estimated 120 to 150 people attended the Devastated Library fund raising event at the Nottingham Town Hall on Saturday evening.

The Blaisdell Memorial Library in Nottingham sponsored a fundraising Soup Supper for the Cameron Parish, Louisiana library system on Saturday, May 6.  Cameron Parish lost 4 of its 5 libraries last fall during Hurricane Rita. Over 120 community members came out to support this project.  Soups and breads were donated by the Blue Loon General Market, Blue Moon’s Green Earth Café, The Green Bean on Water, Lazy Lion Café, Liar’s Paradise, Me and Ollie’s, Panera, The Portable Pantry, Susty’s and Zampa’s.  Local residents also contributed soups, loaned crockpots and made desserts. The event raised over $1700, far more than the organizers had anticipated.  “It was great to see our community get together and have a good time while helping another community, “ said Nottingham resident Elaine Schmottlach. Many PLIA Members turned out to support this effort.
