It has been one month since we launched the new PLIA web site and we have had hundreds of visitors during that time. The news article with the most ‘hits’ had over 200 readers in a three week period. There are two factors that explain all of this activity. The new PawPrints newsletter was mailed out a few weeks ago and it included a story about the new web site. And, we had the flood. The flood photos were accessed over 600 times!

We had 30 PLIA members register on the site this month. I also received several new articles, some event listings, classified ads, and a bunch of photographs from members. The Pawtuckaway History Project posted its first interview and members provided photographs of the 1973 and 1985 lake draw down. Photographs of the 2003 and 2005 July 4th Boat Parade were posted recently and can be found under “The Lake” menu in the new photo section.

Most of the web site design issues are out of the way now so more time can be spent on gathering content for the site. We have several history project interviews in the works and are actively seeking out old photographs of the lake to publish. The annual meeting will provide more information on water quality issues, the PLAC grants, exotic plant infestation, and other hot topics. I hope to spend more time putting information together for the State Park section of the site as well.

As always, I would be happy to hear from anyone with ideas, comments, suggestions, or any content for the site. You can contact me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
