According to the web site New England's Lost Ski Areas there was a small ski area serviced by a rope tow in the Mt. Pawtuckaway Reservation in the late 1930's to early 1940's. "According to several guidebooks, a rope tow served an open slope in the Mt. Pawtuckaway reservation in the late 1930's and early 1940's. It was 375' long, certainly a short tow, and was probably used more for practice than use as an all day area. The exact location is a bit nebulous. The guidebooks list it as being located on Route 109, south of Deerfield center. However, these list several trails in the Reservation. Some had drops of 400-500', with steep narrow pitches and curves. These trails were all over the Reservation; on South Mountain, North Mountain, from the lookout tower, etc. There was even a slalom course set up on South Mountain.
