The 2006 Pawtuckaway Lake Improvement Association (PLIA) Annual Meeting kicked off the summer season with a full-house crowd on Saturday morning. New programs, new grant money, new volunteers, and exciting guest panelists topped this years agenda.
It takes two presidents to keep up with all the programs going on this year in the PLIA. Co-President Donna Danis is focussing on community-based programs while Co-President Tom Duffy is focussing on Environmental programs.
As part of her community based iniative, Donna Danis introduced the Pawtuckaway Kids program. After a brief outline of the new program, Donna turned the podium over to Lauren Chaurette head of the new committee.

The Civic Panel handled questions from the audience on a variety of topics including new boating safety course requirements, State Park policing issues, the Mulligan forest greenway, and Nottingham's new concert series.

The Environmental Panel handled audience questions about the new Pawtuckaway Lake Action Committee Grant program, Town of Nottingham involvement in lake issues at the State and local level, and the Department of Environmental Service's initiatives for protecting NH's water resources.

Celeste Schmitt, head of Pawtuckaway's Lake Host Program spoke on the danger of exotic weed infestations and our need for additional volunteers to join the program (learn more by reading the article 'Voices from the Front Line of the Weed Wars' on this web site). The Schmitt Family have logged the most hours protecting our lake from exotic weed infestations.

Also speaking were George Voltz for the Membership Committee, John Decker for the Sailing Club, Tom Duffy with the Treasurer's Report, and Jeff Gurrier for the Web Site. The Nottingham Woman's Club provided refreshments to raise money for their annual scholarship fund.
