| Save The Lake While Paddling Around |

Do you like to canoe or kayak? Do you love our lake? You could save Pawtuckaway Lake the next time you are just paddling around. The DES's Weed Watcher Program is fun, easy, doesn't take that much time, and you can do it while you are participating in your favorite hobby! If you already paddle around the lake regularly this small, extra effort could just save our lake from being overtaken by an exotic plant infestation. All that weed watching involves is a small amount of time during the summer months. Volunteers survey their waterbody once a month from June through August. To survey, volunteers slowly boat around the perimeter of that waterbody and any islands it may contain. Using the materials provides in the Weed Watchers Kit, volunteers will then look for any species that are of suspicion and send them to DES. After a trip or two around the waterbody, volunteers will have a good knowledge of its plant community and will immediately notice even the most subtle changes.
