Back in the late 1950's and early 1960's, Herb Borer of Shore Drive was well known by lake residents for his creative and comical shell figures. Many of the residents who have been interviewed for our Pawtuckaway Lake History Project had visited the Borer's as children and were given shell figures to take home. I was able to find a few surviving examples of Herb's "Shell Capers", as he called them.

I also found several articles from newspapers and magazines highlighting Herb's artistry. PDF files of these articles can be found by clicking here: Sea Capers
