NH Dam Division Temporarily Avoids Collapse |

The State Legislature has passed bill HB 0283 to temporarily fund the States almost bankrupt Dam Maintenance Division. Changes to the way the state taxed hydropower generation significantly decreased the dam maintenance departments revenue. Some of the long term proposals for solving the crisis include taxing shorefront property owners and electricity surcharges. The department has received some one-time funding to continue to operate this year but, the issue will no doubt be raised again in the near future.
