The 2nd Annual Paddle Day a great success. The weather was perfect, the crowd enthusiastic and the islands were full of ripe blueberries!!!! 20 lake residents headed out on the lake after some basic kayaking tips were provided on the Tuckway Shores beach. Participants learned the proper way to hold the paddle, the proper technique for paddling the kayak and how to get back in the kayak if you happen to tip it over!!!
The kids had a relay race and all were rewarded with a cute rubber ducky which quickly became squirt guns. Next we took a leisurely paddle to an island for some snacking on blueberries then onward to the next set of islands for a picnic lunch and a game of hide and seek. The PLIA and Pawtuckaway Kids would like to thank our friends Jillfrances and Elaine for providing expert instructions on proper kayaking techniques. |
