The Crew assembled at the Dolloff Dam Yacht Club at 8 AM, August 30th. Tom had provided the canoe to ferry the slain phragmites to shore where in true synchronized fashion Eric would arrive to take them to as yet undisclosed destination. So Captain Gary along with Peg and Steve proceeded through the South Channel and en-route to pick-up Gayle.
Then the now fleet anchored off White Cove infestation. Bob had joined the flagship pontoon boat in his boat and served as the expedition's official photographer. Already, busily cutting the stocks was Therese who had motored over to join the fray.
Working together the team subdued the weed and five full canoed loads were ready for Eric, who arrived at 10:10 with Elizabeth and their friend. As he trailed the load off, Mr. Leonard White arrived on the scene and voiced his concerns.
The growth from last year was less than before. In other words, our cutting and digging efforts are slowly becoming effective. It is a process. The next step will be to put a cover over the site. This will be done after the draw down under the direction of Amy and done by the NH DES. |
